Oct 1-12 Average Prices

The average price for a resale Single Family home in Calgary for Oct 1 -12/05 was $286,251 up from last  years average of $246,098.   Condos increased as well with the average price for the same period $196,308 compared to last year at $175,931.  In an interview with the Calgary Herald, Calgary Real Estate Board President Marilyn Jones replied to:  "Can this keep up?"...."The only thing that will change things in the near future is if there are not listings.  Listings were down by 11.4% in September compared to last  year.

Increased activity in residential construction has meant buyers are waiting longer to take possession of new  homes, with that, some have made the decision to look at resale.

Jones cited low interest rates, migration of people to Calgary, the strength of the oil and gas sector and the buoyant overall economy as factors behind the strong market.
